Play the classic board game on your Apple tablet
SCRABBLE for iPad is an impressive recreation of Hasbro's classic word game. It allows you to play the board game against the computer or your friends.
There are lots of different game modes in SCRABBLE for iPad. The single-player mode comes with three difficulty levels, and lets you take on the computer or just play on your own. Multiplayer options in SCRABBLE for iPad include a Facebook mode that lets you challenge your friends on the social network; local network play; Pass 'n Play, where you hand the iPad over after every turn; and Party Play, which allows you and your friends to use your iPhones as tile racks, and the iPad as the board.
Playing SCRABBLE for iPad feels very natural, and the simulation of the game has been carefully kept as close to the original as possible. Tiles are placed on the board simply by dragging and dropping them from your rack. Once you've made your word just tap Play and the points will be added to your total (as long as the word is valid, of course).
Other in-game options in SCRABBLE for iPad include a dictionary, tile swap, recall, and a Best Word feature that automatically chooses the highest scoring word from your rack. This latter option is handy but there's no option to disable it - creating room for cheating in Pass 'n Play mode.
The presentation of SCRABBLE for iPad is immaculate with lush high-definition graphics and slick menu screens. Unfortunately, the background music is very tedious but at least there's an option to play music from your iPod in the game.
SCRABBLE for iPad is as sweet a simulation of a board game as you'll find on the iOS platform.

I wish this app fulfilled its promises...
They can't even get their review page proper, has to be a question?

A good app ruined.
It is worse than not existing at all. All of the new features appear to have been created by a juvenile who never played the game. It is stupid, puerile, and incompetent in all regards. Someone should be fired for this. More

Have you considered playing chess... the new Scrabble is that bad!.
The new version is just terrible. The design is weak compared to previous versions and the forced use of facebook to multi-play is wrong. Local network play was a key feature. Removal of this just emphasises the creators live in a cocoon of free internet and unlimited bandwidth. Mobile data costs me up to $10 per megabyte when traveling so living online is not a option.Elevator music is pathetic and pointless, especially when my ipad has this marvelous capacity to store music I really want to listen too!!!!!The shuffle and pass button proximity has obviously been designed by someone sitting in a comfy office - because if you have played scrabble bumping along on public transport you wouldn't have them on top of each other in the corner.Possibly the worst upgrade of an app I have ever seen. Sadly I have gone from multiple games a day, to 1 or 2 a week - in fact haven't even opened it in the past few days. And to finish - I see in the app store mostly 1 star reviews from players, and a few 5 stars from some trying to counter the negativity. Can we do a check to see how many 5 star reviews come from addresses owned by EA <g>.
Pros:
the old version
Cons:
local network play
lose the elevator music
removal of facebook icons from page
redesign of layout
so many things really... More

A poor substitute for the real thing..
I have been playing the Official Scrabble on my desktop computer for the past nine months at the expert level, and win 50% of all games. There are a number of levels below this and a couple above. The iPad scrabble has three levels, easy, normal and hard. The first two levels are only fit for beginners, talk about going from the sublime to the ridiculous the hard level is for the real expert scrabble players. I wouldn't call myself dim but the words the computer throws up at this level are above my head, this makes for a very uninteresting one sided game. Another thing which I don't understand is, there doesn't appear to be a dictionary that gives word meanings, which is an absolute necessity at the hard level. If anyone knows differently I would be glad of feed back. There is a dictionary that helps with word validity but none for word definition. I play scrabble all the time on my smart phone at the very hard level and again win 50% of the time. Come on Apple surely you can modify this game and give more levels for a more enjoyable gaming experience. I paid more for the scrabble on my computer, but it was well worth the extra, and the scrabble on my phone was a free app!
Cons:
Definition dictionary

scrabble statistics all messed up.
I've been playing the iphone scrabble game for some time now and just recently noticed the statistics do not reflect my win/loss record, they seem to be someone elses stats. The best word listed is one I have never played. Hope they fix that, otherwise I like the game and setup More
